The Pixel Viewer consists of at least a two machine setup, one
configured to be the controller and the other set to be the
viewer. From the one/multiple controller machine a Surf
Request sends a command via a network connection (either
over a LAN or cross-over cable directly to the other machine)
to the listening viewer. On receiving the command the viewer
exits it's Idle Mode and opens the requested media file, be it
video, image, song, or web page.
Imagine an art museum
with a kiosk terminal, titled "Virtual Art." Mounted
on a pillar before a large scale flat plasma screen a basic
12'' touch screen kiosk awaits its next user. Once activated
the 12'' kiosk displays a database driven thumbnail view of an
array of classic art pieces. The user then selects the desired
piece and instantly on the plasma screen, under incredible
high resolution, he sees sections of the Sixteenth Chapel.
This is but one
use of the amazing capabilities behind the Pixel Viewer.
(imagine a touch screen juke box, one terminal per table with
a central audio system near by)
